Boots-our new addition

At the beginning of April, we adopted a 6 week old kitten, from a family whose daughter was highly allergic and had been hospitalised!  His name is Boots due to the four white feet!

He is growing up very quickly and learning to get into everything.  His favourite spot is the garbage bin in the study which is full of paper.

Boots and Peanut (a 10 year old foxie x) get along really well, the kitten bites peanut and then she chases him round the furniture.  He keeps coming back for more

The kids were super excited about our surprise adoption as it wasn't really something we had talked about.

Its beginning to look a lot like Christmas

So we were a few days off the 1st December, but the kids love to help with the tree and they will be busy next weekend, going to see Mary Poppins with my mum and sister!

The tree seems to have a silver/gold tree this year, it changes every time we put it up.  We have a few plush figures also, one to say how many sleeps to christmas...

This year I bought a santa figurine from Coles, it was only $10 and I think its cute.  It sits on our coffee table

We have a few special ornaments on our tree.  The first belonged to my nan, and I found it recently in a box I'd put away.  I remember it hanging on her tree when I was little

The next is special as we got this the christmas after Casey's heart surgery to support The Childres Hospital

The next was given to Lachlan by a student teacher last year

Finally we have four butterflies to signify the kids Nanna, who passed away in 2008.  She loved butterflies!

So there you have it, we don't have many other decorations apart from the tree.  Now we await the arrival of Santa in just 27 sleeps...the kids are getting very excited.

Pills

I wanted to write this so I remember it in the future, a small thing but a memory all the same.  On Monday, Lachlan taught himself to swallow pills!  He has been taking magnesium to help him sleep, due to the tragic death of his friend.  We have been crushing them but he decided to swallow it instead and succeded.  We had tried before with m&ms for practice but with no luck.

Not used to blogging yet...

So we have just had a big delivery of boxes from Chrisco and I've just finished unpacking them.
Now I'm sitting down looking at the empty boxes, I just thought, I should have taken a picture of all the boxes before I unpacked them. It would make a great blog post. But alas I didn't.
Here are a couple anyway. The red boxes held all the frozen food and the other is the empty boxes stacked up. They had the dry food.

Sad to say goodbye...

For the past few weeks we have had my husbands Dad and Step mum visiting from Queensland.  They have been on a roadtrip to visit various family and friends down the East Coast.
I was also lucky enough to have them here for my 30th birthday.

We had the honour of looking after their Labrador, Flash, as they continued their journey south.

Flash was wonderful and despite his many 'needs' and quirks he was a welcome guest...that is unless you ask our cat Harley

who has spent the last few weeks, shut away from flash's playful advances.

Today it was time for them to begin the trip home and our dog Peanut,

wanted to go along for the ride...

We took one final photo of the kids with Nanna and Poppy before they left.  We are sad to see them go but know that we will be seeing them soon enough!
